Balancing sleep and work? Read this!

“How to Stay Awake” by Luke Norton does exactly what it says on the tin, so to speak. I got hold of this book while I was struggling to balance studying for my business exams and getting enough sleep, so I went onto Amazon and looked for something that would help me. At first I thought that “How to Stay Awake” might be too short – I mean, I thought how much could you over in only 8 pages? – but, you know what? It contains all the necessary hints and tips – like a “manage your sleep” handbook – without getting too in depth to the extent where it’d become boring. Instead, what we have here in “How to Stay Awake” is a kind of mini bible, with essential tips such as surviving a cram session, avoiding falling asleep at work, driving while fatigued and working a night shift. Norton really knows his stuff and this is one book that I will refer to again and again. Recommended!

this book is very handy because im only ten and ofcourse want to stay up all night in my fort so i came across this book and itried what the book said and i go to bed at 9 p.m and end up staying up until 12:45 instead of 10:00. i followed the instructions and i have a mini fridge in my fort/clubhouse full of fruit and water. and instead of sleeping on my ine of my clubhouse ten beds i sleep on the floor. and when i was traveling to washington last summer with my brother step sister dad and stepmom i showed my stepmom the book ( my dad does not have his licenes) i nstead of driving all night she would stop at reststop's and she was SO much happier and less grouchy in the morning. i would like to thank the authour of this book and i hope whoever is thinking about reading this book reads my reveiw and changes their mind if they said no.

Author Luke W. Norton does a thorough job of enlightening readers on techniques to stay awake on those occasions when they may need to. I found it to be a real eye-opener, as it went beyond the logical methods that we all tend to think we should take when getting sleep isn't an option. What I enjoyed most about the book was that it didn't necessarily promote taking medication, prescribed or otherwise. The emphasis was placed on utilizing authentic strategies which would enable a person to naturally and organically drift into a state of slumber. I’d have to give this book a thumbs up as a recommended read for sure.

Read it if you are serious about making the change

I am amazed yet not surprised by the range of reviews. This is absolutely Robert's best book ever. I totally appreciated Sharon's input as she is a straight "A" student like me and I can identify with her intelligence. However I can also identify with Roberts academic weakness because I studied a highlly skilles E/S profession not Business so as far as business is concerned, I'm as dumb as he was in the beginning.

I have read Roberts first 3 books, listened to most of his CD's, Studied his Choose to be rich program and am presently enrolled in Coaching. Every time he starts any teaching he covers the basics so if you never read one of his other books you get an introduction to the concepts. Since the books each build on the other he refers you to the others for further details on some concepts. People like me who are serious about making the transition from employee and self employed to business owner and investor hungrily soak up every word out of Roberts mouth. I noticed that most negative reviewers admit to skimming over the book or just listening to the abridged CD. You missed the meat. I'm sorry for you. It's sad to see someone fight so hard for the right to stay the same.

I too find Robert repetitive at times but I use the opportunity to remind myself of old lessons and prepare myself for the new lesson to come. This new lesson usually stands on the foundation of the previous lesson hence why he must repeat it at least briefly.

On my own personal journey to Business owner and Investor I have found Robert's guidance on changing who you ARE and finding the WHY for your change before working on the HOW-TO PRICELESS!! People who want a GRQ (get rich quick) will never like Robert. They should stop buying his books and go elsewhere.

If you really want to make the change don't just read, STUDY. I don't know if you will ever find this dept of insight into what the change really costs anywhere else. Almost Every other writer wants you to think they are great and that is why they are successful. Robert is brutally honest. This is what we need.

This book is another in the Rich Dad Poor Dad series. In it Kiyosaki explores what it takes to transition from employee to entrepreneur and from entrepreneur to business leader. He identifies and debunks the excuses people give for not acting on their dreams, He also identifies the roadblocks that people put in their own way by not thinking clearly about what it will really take to make an idea a profitable reality.

Among the vital lessons Kiyosaki wants us to learn are:

1. A successful entrepreneur finds the right idea, the right people to act on the idea, and the right money to leverage the whole project.

2. A successful entrepreneur operates from freedom and opportunity rather than security and resources.

3. The best time to answer the tough questions about starting a business -- is before you start the business -- not when you're in the middle of it. Some of these questions are:

a. How badly do I want my own business? Why?

b. How much will I extend myself to succeed?

c. Am I afraid to fail? If so, how can I make this a strength?

d. Am I willing to educate myself on the essential components of a successful business (defining and describing team, leadership, mission and understanding product, legal, systems, communications, and cash flow)?

4. Learn how to turn bad luck into good luck.

Another Rehash Robert?

I will preface this with the fact that I skimmed through the book when I was at the bookstore. However, I came to the same conclusion that other reviewers have of Kiyosaki's last few books: He just rehashes the tenants of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" over and over.

I would flip randomly at a page and read a few paragraphs and swear I was reading "Rich Dad, Poor Dad". Things like "Don't Work for Money", "Become and Entrepreneur", etc. And he went into the different types of thinking...i.e. Cash Flow Quadrant rehash.

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Kiyosaki and enjoy his message. I even met him in person one time and it was great. But is this what his "business" is? Just reselling millions of Americans on the hope that his books will help them? Other than his book/game empire, what is Kiyosaki's major business?? Anyways, just my two cents.

A Modern Classic

I saw a production of The Drawer Boy at Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago, Illinois starring John Mahoney (of Frasier fame), Frank Galati, and Johnny Galecki. The script is beautifully crafted, with a subtle and skillful coloring. The simple, truthful insights it provides into friendships with all their complexities are touching. I'd highly recommend this play to read, or better yet, watch.

Read with caution

A student required to use this text should keep two general points in mind.

1) The figures are not as well proof-read as the text. Spelling should be crosschecked with text examples. Some of the errors are more substantive than this.

2) To keep the text simple, some oversimplifications are used and some things are stated as fact that aren't necessarily so. Description of membrane electrical behavior leaves potassium leak channels out of the resting potential. Muscle cramps are used

as an example of ATP depletion when cramping has many causes - rarely including ATP shortages. An older used copy of a more ambitious A&P text would be a valuable backup to this one.

To any of Dr. Clark's students of A&P 1 & 2, this is the book to use for your studying. You will not need a recorder in class to capture the lecture because every chapter is like reading his lecture. He uses great analogies that help you understand the physiology of your body. He also breaks things down into steps and simplifies it so you can better understand. This book has been a great tool for learning the anatomy and physiology of the body!

Anatomy is not by any means an easy subject, but in his book dr Clark make it simple to understand. I am so glad i bought this book and save the trouble of trying to figure it out with other anatomy books that were not as helpful. The analogies he uses makes all the difference.

I read this book on Jackie Robinson expecting it to be about baseball and got a history lesson on civil rights as well. John Wilson combines his two passions in life, Baseball and History. Easy to read with great stories both on and off the field. Highly recommended.
